Lisbon is known as the city of light? The name in Portuguese (Lisboa) comes from "Luz boa" (good light)? Not really, but it could be. This is due to:
- Annual average of sunshine hour 2786, the biggest in the region
- The city is surrounded by water of Tejo River
- Lisbon is built with light colored materials, which reflect and scatter the light, making it more intense. There is abundant white limestone, tiles in façades, and buildings in natural stone. Houses are painted in pink, yellow and ochre, on a pavement made of white stone. Light comes also from the ground. All these materials and colors, different from other European cities, contribute to the brightness of our city.
This is awesome! Isn’it?!
